This web site is a celebration of our ancestors, our family members, and our family history.   It is intended to share the facts of our family as well the history and memories of our family.

     As of 2006, our family has been in Texas continuously for 182 years.  Our family's newest members are eighth generation native Texans.  Our ancestors originally settled in the area around Waverly, Texas.  They were part of the Vehlein Colony, one of Stephen F. Austin's colonies, in 1824.

     Although we are truly proud of our Texas heritage, we have been able to trace branches of our family line back to approximately 900 A.D..

Nova & Debbie 1969

      Henry Arthur Powell was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1943, the child of Dorothy Loretta Hansen and Silas Audrey Powell.  Henry has two nicknames, "Buddy" to his parents, and "Nova" to his friends.   Debra Lynn Allen was born in Houston, Texas in 1950, the child of Lola Maye Wyatt and Norman Aubrey Allen.  We, Nova and Debbie, met in New Orleans, Louisiana in January, 1968,  and married in Houston, Texas in November, 1968.   

      The family genealogy reports on this web site are regularly updated as new areas of the family are discovered.  Clarification or new information on any branch of the family is always welcomed. 

      Photographs, oral histories, and copies of documents are treasured, and, as such, always welcomed.
